Salento by bike

Salento by bike

The autumn is ideal to explore Salento by bike!

The temperatures are perfect (neither too hot nor too cold) and the sceneries that nature offers in this period are really spectacular. There are several itineraries that you can follow to admire the wonders of Salento.

For example, starting from our hotel in Santa Maria di Leuca, you could reach other tourist destinations that are very popular in Salento, such as Gallipoli and Otranto.

The path to Gallipoli is mostly flat, so the activity is not that challenging. You will go through a fantastic experience along the Mediterranean coast, among pines, junipers, myrtles and enchanting coastal towers. The sea will be the amazing background of the whole itinerary, along which you can stop and visit different attractions. For example, the “Litorale di Ugento” regional nature park or Punta Suina, which is called “the Caribbean of the Ionian Sea” because of its crystal-clear water and its unspoiled nature.

The physical effort required to reach Otranto is instead slightly harder, because the street is made up of many climbs and descents.

Along the way you can admire the incredible views. In Santa Maria di Leuca you find yourself walking along streets lined with prickly pears and surrounded by the smell of salt as you continue passing by small fishing villages and picturesque locations. For example, Castro, where you can admire the old town overlooking the sea or Santa Cesarea Terme, famous for its thermal springs, or Porto Badisco, in whose picturesque bays the Trojan hero Aeneas is said to have landed.

These are just two examples, but you can choose any route you want and immerse yourself in its enchanting and unspoilt nature by bicycle.
In addition, in our hotel in Santa Maria di Leuca, you can continue your fantastic experience in the rich greenery of Salento, in a unique and peaceful location.
See you soon!
